BOLLINGER SPECTRE R.D. 1988 MAGNUM + SAINT-LOUIS CRYSTAL SET
A new prestige limited edition of Bollinger R.D. 1988 in Magnum with a unique Saint-Louis crystal art piece, used as an ice bowl, topped with a carbon covering. Only 307 Crystal Sets were produced.
Crafted by Saint-Louis crystal works in Lorraine and designed by Eric Berthés, each numbered bowl highlights Bollinger’s late-release, prestige cuvée. The 007 “SPECTRE” edition carries the iconic octopus emblem.
Bollinger partnered with Saint-Louis (founded 1586, now part of the Hermès Group), to reflect a shared passion for French craftsmanship and exceptional quality.
Tasting Notes
Intense gold hue with subtle shades. Aromas of brioche, honey, and dried apricot mark its maturity. The palate offers great length and strength, finishing with notes of preserved lemon.
Serving Recommendation
Serve between 8°C and 10°C. Perfect with gourmet dishes, or to create a celebration on its own. Enjoy now or age further—its potential is nearly endless.

Magnums disgorged on 1st September 2003.
Winemaking Details
- Grapes sourced only from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards.
- 17 crus involved in the blend: 66% Grand Crus, 34% Premier Crus.
- Main sources: Aÿ, Verzenay, Louvois, Mesnil s/Oger, Oger, and Cuis.
- Fermented in oak casks (205L–400L) aged at least 4 years.
- Enhances complexity and ageing potential without imparting oak flavour.

72% Pinot Noir, 28% Chardonnay
Ageing & Dosage
Minimum of 10 years aging in Bollinger’s cellars under cork. Rested for 3 months post-disgorgement before release. Very low "Extra Brut" dosage: 3–4g/L.
Vintage Notes – 1988
Excellent quality vintage. Flowering in mid-June. Late-season rain caused some grey rot in Pinot Noir, but rigorous grape sorting ensured high-quality yields (9,000kg/ha). Musts had 9.2° alcohol and excellent acidity.
